Brief Reviews: Debt Stoppers should BE STOPPED. I decided to file bk with them, and used them because their offices were close to my school, and I could schedule appointments around my class/work schedule. Well, what a mistake it was. After paying the 1500 dollars, I told them what to include and not include in the bankruptcy (my car was not to be included and a credit card bill that I closed was to be)..after finally calling and calling to make sure that they understood this, I had to go to my court meeting at 12 noon. However, my attorney from DS did not show up until 3pm with no apology whatsoever. On top of which he smelled bad and had bad breath..I figure if you're gonna be 3 hours late, you should at least be clean and wearing a suit that isn't wrinkled with food stains on it...but he gave no apology for this either...NONE. I missed a whole day of class for that nonsense. I was livid...but saw that the card was not included. And you guessed it, my car was. I told them I didn't agree with that, and they told me it would be fixed. After having to call them 5x a day leaving messages and voicemails and threatening to call Lisa Madigan on them for almost a week, they finally called me back, told me the card was included, and that my car was not. Well, after it's been discharged in MAY i have yet to receive papers or know what was on there in AUGUST. I've called them but because I've had to do things, like live my life, i've been unable to hound them nonstop. However, I see that will have to change. I want to get my credit repaired, so I saw a copy of my credit report and yep, you guessed it, the car was on the bankruptcy and the credit card wasn't. So no wonder I've been getting calls from debt collection groups. Now I have to go back to DebtStoppers armed with my credit report and tell them what should have been included...and they better do it with no charge to me. It's their mess-up, not mine. I hate this company and wish I'd never dealt with them ever! Don't use them...shut them down! PLEASE! I'd rate them less than one star if I could.
