Brief Reviews: Summary: The Law Office of James G. Schwartz billed me significant charges and deducted them from my trust account while not conducting any material work on my case. Details: I contacted the Law Office of James G. Schwartz to help resolve some title and tax issues on a property we had purchased. During the initial consultation, attended by James Schwartz and Joshua Brysk, I reviewed the issues with them and indicated the urgency of the matter. They stated that this was a case that they were well qualified to handle and that they could start working immediately. I proceeded to write them a large check to be placed in a trust account from which they could bill against. Several weeks went by with no work being done on the case. In contacting the attorney, I was told that things were busy, but he would start that week. Again, several weeks went by with no work being performed on the case. I contacted the attorney again who indicated that he would be starting on the case soon. This went back and forth for several more weeks until the attorney stated that he was busy with other cases and would get to mine in due course. During this time, the Law Office of James G. Schwartz proceed to send monthly bills for "time" spent on the case. Funny, since there was no material work being done by the attorneys. I placed several calls to try to ascertain why I was being billed. This occurred over the course of more than a couple months. Finally, after 1/2 of my retainer trust had been depleted with bills from the Law Office, and with no real work having been done on the case, I asked about the possibility to change attorneys. Of course they didn't recommend it. I also ask about the possibility of some kind of reimbursement of fees they had billed since they didn't perform any work on the case. They didn't respond. However, they did bill for the attorney's time in talking about my billing issues. I finally got smart and cut the cord before I bled to death (not literally, but from a cash perspective). I'm now with another attorney who has done good work. I hope this provides some factual perspective.
