From the supplier: A federal judge recently awarded damages and fees to a couple after a bank employee assumed their identities, racked up $50,000 in charges to credit accounts he opened in their named, then defaulted. Local and state law enforcement officials said the case was outside their jurisdiction. The US Secret Service then investigated and got a signed confession but decided the losses were not significant enough to warrant prosecution. US District Judge David Hittner then ordered the Houston US Attorney to pursue the case.
